The passenger informs the driver or conductor of their destination. The AFCS device calculates the fare based on distance traveled or a fixed rate, depending on the fare matrix set by the transport operator.
Instead of requiring a prepaid card, the AFCS device is designed to accept cash payments. The conductor inputs the amount received, and the system verifies if the fare is correct. If change is needed, the device can suggest the correct amount.
Once the payment is confirmed, the AFCS prints a ticket with details such as the fare, date, time, and destination.
The AFCS device logs each transaction in real-time, storing data like the number of passengers, revenue collected, and trip details.
To prevent fare evasion or tampering, the AFCS is equipped with anti-fraud mechanisms, such as requiring operators to input transactions manually and generating unique tickets per passenger.
